ABN finance chief quits over Barclays deal
He will quit at the start of August, having rejected a senior post offered by chief executive John Varley if the agreed takeover goes ahead.
Scott-Barrett, 48, who became finance director 16 months ago, said that, having rejected Varley’s offer, ‘my resignation is a logical step’.
He joined ABN 11 years ago after a career in the corporate finance departments of Kleinwort Benson and SBC Warburg.
ABN today spent hundreds of thousands of euros taking out press adverts across the Low Countries to reassure customers.
It denied reports that customers were quitting in droves, claiming only a few dozen have closed their accounts.
The adverts tell the customers their savings and investments are safe, no branches will close and service will remain unchanged.
